About this tool
A character name generator built for writers, worldbuilders, tabletop RPG players, and game designers. Choose from 8 distinct fantasy and realistic styles, filter by 7 regional origins, set gender, name length, and optionally add alliteration or a middle name. Every combination produces a different feel — a High Fantasy elf name sounds nothing like a Steampunk engineer or a Mythology-era Greek hero.
Fantasy name styles
- High Fantasy — melodic, elvish-inspired names suited to epic fantasy novels and D&D campaigns (think Tolkien-adjacent).
- Dark Fantasy — harsher, shadowed names for antiheroes, villains, grimdark fiction, and dark RPG settings.
- Mythology — pulls from Greek, Norse, and Celtic naming conventions for gods, heroes, and legendary figures.
- Sci-Fi — futuristic names with an alien or technological edge, good for space opera and cyberpunk characters.
- Nature Spirit — soft, elemental names drawn from natural imagery — suited to druids, fey, and nature-based characters.
- Celestial — ethereal, divine-sounding names for angels, archons, gods, and cosmic beings.
- Steampunk — Victorian-flavored names with a mechanical, inventor-era feel.
- Realistic — real-world names filtered by 7 regional origins: European, East Asian, South Asian, African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, or Oceanic/Pacific.

- Yes — set Style to Realistic and choose from European, East Asian, South Asian, African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, or Oceanic/Pacific.
- Can I generate last names only?
- Yes — set Name part to Last name only. Useful when you already have a first name for your character.
- Can I generate a name with a middle name?
- Open Advanced options and check Include middle name. Only applies to Full name mode.
- Can names start with the same letter?
